President Barack Obama won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize on Friday in an attempt to ENCOURAGE his initiatives to reduce nuclear arms, ease tensions with the Muslim world and stress diplomacy and cooperation rather than unilateralism. Its causing lot of noise because usually the winner is not given the Peace prize to encourage his attempt. But a committee chairman, Obama should have been received the award; "He got the prize because he has been able to change the international climate," Nobel Committee chairman Thorbjoern Jagland said. "Some people say, and I understand it, isn't it premature? Too early? Well, I'd say then that it could be too late to respond three years from now. It is now that we have the opportunity to respond — all of us." They also say that he was selected because he has brought the United States closer to mainstream global thinking on issues like climate change and multiculturalism. To read more click here
Honestly, i would have to agree that he deserves this award. Barack Obama's run for president and his process in presidency has brought some many different people together. This country came together for the change of history! That should be award, not to mention the way different countries now view America. We somewhat gained back of image of being great! I will agree that it is a little to early to say if he deserves the award. But based on what i stated before he deserves it. I think people are making a fuss about him still not pulling soldiers out of the war. Yet, a lot of that at this time is a little out of his control. I think the committee did the right thing.
