Lionsgate's "Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire" set a new record for films opening in limited release. The film brought in 1.8 million from just 18 theater release, estimating to $100,000 per theater.The LA Times is reporting that the film was show in both highbrow theaters, and in African American communities not only that but a small majority of moviegoers were black, and a lopsided 68% were female. The film will be released this Friday in more theatres across the country. As well as more next Friday! The film is also creating ALOT of Oscar buzz!

im SOOO excited about this!!!!! this proves that we can do more than just comedies, romantic comedies, and hood films! we r a very colorful people! literally and figuratively. btw, LEE DANIELS is BOMB!
