I realize that by accident I've now put the black film community at risk [with Red Tails, whose $58 million budget far exceeds typical all-black productions]. I'm saying, if this doesn't work, there's a good chance you'll stay where you are for quite a while. It'll be harder for you guys to break out of that [lower-budget] mold. But if I can break through with this movie, then hopefully there will be someone else out there saying let's make a prequel and sequel, and soon you have more Tyler Perrys out there.

New Year, New Goals....And a BABY!

YES YOU READ IT RIGHT! Its a new year & though i had so many plans wrote out to conquer no later than August...To my surprise I now have to add Baby to that list of goals to birth in August. Yesss I of all people am having a kid.. I mean who would've ever thought I'd have a baby? Not ME! (Then again it's usually the people you least expect.) *shrugs* Though I'm not OVER the rainbow about it, (Only because i always wanted to be married & in love first) I'm happy to know i can have kids.. I mean for a minute there, i was a little scared because I've never been pregnant before this time. It's a blessing & i know God has a plan. What can i say? I'm going to be a mommy to some uninformed child who hasn't yet experienced my MAN UP, get up & go, dust yourself off & keep going personality. (My family's hoping for a girl, to soften me up a bit as they call it.) Now this child could very well slow me down, (i stay sleepy) & he/she has already added some damper to my planned DIRTY 30 birthday plans in New Orleans this year. However, this may just be exciting. I mean really exciting! The only thing that is not exciting & keeps ringing through my mind is that I'm going to be a babymomma...UGHHHH (not knocking anyone) I just hate the stigma associated with that title but honestly i thank God because i have a tremendous amount of help & love. Though it's going to be hard, i LOVE a challenge, i LOVE anything that's going to force me to step outside of myself & see life from someone else's eyes. I'd like a boy (he would be fitting for my get up & go) but i just want a healthy baby... So while i press on to conquering my dreams this year, i will also be pressing on to produce something that only God could have done. I'm going to be alright, i don't have any crazy morning sickness besides the prenatal pills I'm supposed to take daily that i take every other day because they make me feel horrible! I even thought I'd be off the market to men, but to my surprise a lot of men love pregnant women & i love men! LOL But anyway i just hope this baby is ready for the greatest ride of their life...

There is this one question that we all get after seeing someone that we haven't seen in years, months, hell even days. Its probably one of the most hated questions next to WHY?, or WHAT ARE YOU DOING THAT FOR?....Drum roll pleaseeee *beating on forehead* WHAT ARE YOU UP TO THESE DAYS? ((UGH)) Yes the dreaded question. The minute the person gets to the question mark, your body stands still, your brain begins searching and you attempt to make your life seem like your on the road to be the next Barack Obama. Odds are you are not! You are just a regular working person, with a regular car, eating regular food, dating a regular boyfriend/girlfriend and odd's are you're just fuking regular as they come...

What are the odds that the very person who is so excited to see you, has already tip toed through your facebook, twitter and discussed you through other friends. So why they asked? no one knows because they already know you're just as regular as they are..

Why is it so hard for us to just be honest and say "I am not doing a damn thing but being happy." What is wrong with that response? I guess, It's just to honest. But yet we A) say something to grab the person's attention B) look away to ease our shame for our faborcation to them but for being dishonest to ourselves C) never really say what we want to say which is NOT A DAMN THANG D) All of the above. Why do we torture ourselves trying to impress people who are just as FUKING regular as we are? I mean really, I'm just saying.. If the recipient of the question isn't investing in any part of your life why do we gracely run down our whole life? Hell, they pump gas like a regular person, they take dumps like a regular person, they make their life seem greater like regular people do... Just face it! They are just as FUKING REGULAR AS YOU ARE!

Lately i have had to be my own therapist... For more reasons than one but more than anything because i have been all over the place.. It's been going on for months, i can now trace it back to losing both my grandma's earlier this year and having to relocate to Mississippi... A couple of friends made random statements in conversation that sparked my "AHA" moment... That moment made me realize that i have been trying to run away from being "normal", if there is a such thing as normalcy.. I've been so caught up in hating where I am in this place in my life that i don't genuinely enjoy the moments. Though i know i need to learn how to be happy today in order to enjoy tomorrow, i don't...When I started graduate school this August the battle with myself began.. I always thought i wanted to be some sort of counselor but i never wanted to go to graduate school. When I'm sitting in class i am mentally not there. I doodle on my notebook, text on my phone and imagine myself doing everything but being there. However, I do make sure i do all the work, because i don't believe in wasting time or money. Yet, every second that goes by i want it to end ASAP! A friend asked me one day, "what are you running from?" I had zero clue. Then i started having a lot of issues with my car and i ended up on the side of the road in a very small town outside of the college campus. I sat there before i called anyone for help and as i was sitting a random young man approached my car. He was very helpful and even stayed until the family friend came with his tow truck. THAT day which was just two weeks ago, helped make sense of everything. The young man talked to me about his brother who was a counselor and it all hit me...I DON'T WANNA SPEND MY LIFE IN A OFFICE PLAYING WITH PEOPLES MINDS!!! You ever find yourself getting involved in things that you feel will make you feel significant? Like going back to school, when you really had no intentions of doing so. Or starting a business that you know you will not put any effort into... Well i have now joined the club... I've been having a lot of conversation with friends lately who have made discussions that they later realized they did in order to make themselves feel good about where they are in life. I made a discussion to go to graduate school. Yes, i was excited to see the excitement in everyone i knew. Only to realize their excitement was just as exiting as my excitement to not feel comfortable in my current circumstances. Does that make any sense??? If not trust me it will one day.. ((sighh))

Since I've come to realize where i am mentally not only do i feel a huge release, i have also made a decision to end school. This is hard for me because i hate starting something and ending it before it's done... BUT I won't be looking back and if i do, I'll stick with online courses! I know someone will talk me out of it, which is why i don't tell people my decisions until I've made them. But that will be what i plan to do!! I want to use the wasted time i spend in a class room doing busy work and get back to writing, painting and just being FREEE! ((Ugh))

After all of this I'm back to being genuinely happy and honest with myself and what i want out of life... Some of us just want to inspire, encourage, live with no attachments, love and hope that GOD says "Job well done!"

My beautiful people it's been so long since I've given you a Style Hit of the Week! But i'mmmm bizzackkk and this one may just be the Style Hit of the Century! Well, where do i start? hmmm, Okay so Julia Sarr-Jamois (fashion editor for Wonderland magazine) has been my girl crush for about a year and a half now! My only problem with the BOLD soul is that she smokes (Womp..womp) But i nearly am on the edge of my seat when i see her in magazines as well as random shots of her on the street!

Julia's style completely color's outside of the lines! I mean honestly how many people do you know that can go from Biker Chic to Relaxed Cool, to Hollywood Glam to Urban Prep and the only thing that never switches up is her swag. EFFORTLESS! I LOVE Admire and Adore, how she infuses denim, color and accessories to pull off something that appears to the naked eye as EASY fashion! Her tribute to fashion is just FREAKING awesome and she does it all with that dang-on Cancer stick. That she even makes attractive (Well, not really but you get me!) Julia is a "Friend in my head" and she actually resembles one of my close friends from high school, who also models named Hawa! Julia's style is every bit of the word Unique It in many ways for me represents this fascinating sense of FREEDOM of Individuality! ....I could gush about her all day but for now, i'll let you all be the judge!

The month of October is celebrated for various reason, three of which are extremely close to my heart. Breast Cancer Awareness, Domestic Violence Awareness and Arts and Humanities Awareness are three aspects of this month i want to draw a bit of attention to..In this post i will briefly discuss BREAST CANCER, It's risks, symptoms and a little extra.

A few years back one of my close childhood friends lost her mom to Breast Cancer and up until that point it wasn't a big issue to me because as always "We are unconcerned until it hits closer to home." But to actually have to sit back, listen, watch and be empathic to someone suffer from something that in this case, they had no control over was hard to do. We hear a lot about Breast cancer and cancer in general but honestly up until that point i really never knew what it actually was. As i did a little research internet sources say Breast cancer is a cancer originating from breast tissues, most commonly from the inner lining of milk ducts or the lobules that supply the ducts with milk. I guess to put it in simplest form, it is a Malignant tumour in the breast. Breast cancer is not something that is just closed to women, both men and woman can get breast cancer and even certain mammals. Some reports say that the early stages of breast cancer usually do not have. It's not until the tumour starts to grow that symptons began. From there symptoms may included; 1)Breast lump or lump in the armpit that is hard, has uneven edges, and usually does not hurt. 2)Change in the size, shape, or feel of the breast or nipple -- for example, you may have redness, dimpling, or puckering that looks like the skin of an orange. 3)Fluid coming from the nipple -- may be bloody, clear to yellow, green, and look like pus.

Some of the RISKS of BREAST CANCER are;
1) Age and gender
2)Family history of breast cancer
3) Genes
4) Menstrual cycle
5) To much alcohol use
6) Child birth
7) DES -- Women who took diethylstilbestrol (DES) to prevent miscarriage
8) Radiation
9) Obesity.

Breast implants, using antiperspirants, and wearing under wire bras do not raise your risk for breast cancer and there is no proven evidence of a direct link between breast cancer and pesticides.
