Mrs. Angela Bassett will make her directorial debut with an independent film titled "United States. " The film is based on the novel "Erasure" by Percival Everett. The film is a dramatic comedy about a prominent black literary figure, who writes a faux autobiography from the perspective of a barely literate hoodlum to decry what is wrong with the glorification of "ghetto" culture. Bassett's husband Courtney B. Vance will also produce alongside Mrs. Bassett under their Bassett/Vance Prods banner.
