The memorial services for Michael Jackson, will take place today at Staples Center. It will be a star-studded event. Mariah Carey and Jennifer Hudson are confirmed as two of the performers for the ceremony.The family has unveiled a long list of celebrities who will be contributing to the event in some form; as follows: Kobe Bryant; the Andrae Crouch Choir; Berry Gordy; Shaheen Jafargholi (finalist on Britain’s Got Talent); Magic Johnson; Martin Luther King III; Bernice A. King; John Mayer; Lionel Richie; Smokey Robinson; Rev. Al Sharpton; Brooke Shields; Pastor Lucious Smith (family friend), Justin Timberlake and Stevie Wonder. We don't know exactly what each persons specific roles will be.
Some of Jackson's closest Friends like Elizabeth Taylor and Quincy Jones said that they will not attend the ceremony. However the memorial is expected to begin at 10 a.m thousands of lucky fans got two free tickets to the memorial service, the rest of that did not win will have to view the event on a big screen at the Nokia Theatre, which is located across from Staples. The memorial is said to be the largest celebrity send-off in entertainment history, and will reportedly cost taxpayers up to $2 million dollars. All major networks are going to broadcast the event live as well as 88 movie theaters across the country, including in Los Angeles, Monrovia and Tulare. Click HERE to view a list of the theaters. A private funeral service will be held for Jackson at Forest Lawn prior to the public service where Michael's body is currently being held.
