Remembering AALIYAH!! (January 16, 1979 – August 25, 2001)

8 years ago today, Aaliyah along with several others; Anthony Dodd, Eric Foreman, Scott Gallin, Keeth Wallace, Gina Smith, Douglas Kratz, Christopher Maldonado, & Luis Morales died in a plane crash.
I listen to Aaliyah damn near everyday. I was and I am still a HUGE fan. I wish that she was still here to see the impact she's had on music. A lot of female artist would not successful as they are if it was not for her tragic death. She was an artist that set the limits and she didnt it with class. She didnt have to use her body to sell her music! She allowed her talent to do the work.--She is Missed!

-Legacy-

Sal Cinquemani of Slant Magazine, has been quoted saying that Aaliyah is the "missing link between hip-hop and electronica".Having sold 8.1 million albums in the United States and over 24 million records worldwide. Aaliyah has been named the "Queen of Urban Pop." In 2001, the United States Social Security Administration ranked the name Aaliyah one of the 100 most popular names for newborn girls. [Source]
